Hard weeks

Last Friday began what is being for me the hardest weeks of 1st of batxillerat with two exams: the third hour of that day I had literature’s exam which took us one and a half hour, this means, our breakfast time. After that we had to do another exam: catalan, which was exhausting because we didn’t have any time to rest.

I spent all Saturday doing my homework and preparing the exams for next week: I woke up in the morning and I went directly to work because I have so much to do...I took lunch and continued working. Later, in the evening I had a break time and I disconnected for a while, but later I studied some more before going to sleep.

This morning I went to a basket lunch and now I have a lot of work to do, this is stressing! Next week I have to be optimistic and take it easy, if not, I will be desperate, because Monday I have to do philosophy exam, Tuesday sciences of the contemporary world exam, Wednesday: maths and Spanish, Thursday: history and Friday oral presentation of Catalan literature. This will be hard to stand…Also for tomorrow I have to do a history essay which I haven’t finished yet, and Thursday I have to go to Girona to do an oral French exam. Don’t forget the blog, the portfolio and all the homework that we have to do.
Oh my God, I watch the programming of next week and I got headache, I need more time!

Facebook

I’ve already talked about facebook in other post, but in a general way and comparing it to the fotolog, but I think that I have to talk again about it because it’s a subject which is becoming more importance every day.
Facebook is a web site created by Mark Zuckerberg, one of the richest man of his age because of creating the site. It was originally created for Harvard students but today it is open to everybody who has got an internet connection. Now there are already 200 millions of users, from the date it has been opened to everybody in September 2006.

According to Alexa.com the site came up from place 60 of the most visited sited to number 7 in only one year.

The services that offers are the facility of searching friends or meet new ones in a very simple way of search: if you know his or her name, you can try if he or she is in facebook and add them as a friend. Another important thing in the page is the facility of sharing and sending pictures, videos and other interesting archives. You can put what you want in you page and the people who is allowed can go and take what they are interested for, for example, pictures or videos.
There is a page, called “wall” which shows you what other people are doing, what they wrote, and the games they played: some of them are quite interesting because they put on approval your knowledge about geography and your ability in memory games. Some of them are: Pet Society, Who has the biggest brain, Geo Challenge, Word Challenge, Bowling Buddies... I played minimum once every game, just to try them!

Charles Chaplin

Charles Spencer Chaplin was born in Londres the 16th of April 1889 and died the 25th of December 1977. He worked as an actor, director, writer, producer and composer.

With 90 films, he has become the most important and representative figure in the mute cinema world, which has given him a very important recognition. He created a very peculiar man whose name was The Tramp (in Spanish: Charlot), who was vagabond but with refined ways to act and the dignity of a gentleman. He was wearing a narrow jacket, big trousers, shoes that were bigger that he needed, a bowler hat, a cane and a characteristic moustache. People knew him because of his unmistakable way of walking and his disillusion of the injustice of the new society made him the emblem of the new working-class.

The famous film produced in 1936, called: Modern Times, is the last one where we can see this personage. This is because when Chaplin created The Tramp, his idea wasn’t to give him the faculty of talking, so, made him as mime as possible without talking. This film was recorded when the new system of recording sounds was created, but our personage doesn’t talk or he does it only a little bit. Moreover he conserves his way of moving like a mime and the music of mute films. This was criticised by the more reactionaries sectors.
Later, this film was considered one of the bests in the story of cinema.

Summer

Summer is characterized by long days and solar rays with smaller inclination; this is the reason why temperatures are higher, days longer and nights shorter.
Did you know that when we, in the northern hemisphere, are in summer, the southern hemisphere has winter? Here, summer begins on the 21st of June and ends 3 months later: on the 21st of September. But beside the equator line, summer begins on the 21st of December and finishes at 21st of March! It’s curious to think that when we are at home and it’s cold winter, other people in the world can go to the beach and enjoy the sun, and the other way around.

Summer season is expected with emphasis by all students during the course. This is because summer means relax, sun, see, beach, free time... I think that the best thing of summer is the good mood of the people, because everybody wants to go to beach, or play volleyball match on the beach, go somewhere with friends…nobody wants to stay at home when days are sunny and nights are warm. Another important fact of this season are the parties of each town which are quite popular between old and young. Many people go there and it’s a good reason to meet everybody during the long holidays.

I’ve heard that some people will travel to other countries during these 3 months to learn foreign languages, but I think that I’m going to stay here because I haven’t planned anything yet. What are you going to do? Some ideas?

Easter holidays

The holiday days are generally very boring. All the teachers put you a lot of projects and many homework for doing (sometimes I believe that they don't remember that holidays are to take a student breath). Thankfully, there exist a few persons who do of these most enterteining days and the best of your life. They are your friends and I want to tell you what I've done with them in my easter holidays.

The first day of holidays the friends of class went to the St. Peter beach to play football and do something else to relax of college. There was doing windy, so we had to go to the river because windy was more calm. We've had a great afternoon but everything don't finish yet.

Thursday some friends older, Guillem and David have gone to see the new film about the tv serie Dragon ball. The worst film I've seen in my life, really. Anything created in toons can never be changed to real person that represents the same serie.

Friday was my sister's birthday and all my distant family come to be in the familiar lunch we did. My sister was very happy because there are much time that we don't see some familiar members. In afternoon of the same day, Guillem brought me with motorbike to St. Peter again. The day was sunny, and we've could go to the beach perfectly. There, there were a lot of persons who were doing kitesurf. The sky seemed to a constellation of stars which were moving.

In the beach there was a voleyball net so, we've played much time there. Minutes after putting to play there came some Germans who wanted to do a match against us. At the beginning, we lost for a lot of point but little to little we did points. Finally, they win for 1 point and was an horrible mistake, very easy. At the end of the afternoon, I've gone to David's house to play basketball and a football match and Guillem brought me again to my house.

I think that every moment you pass with your friends it's the only one. So you must to be useful every opportunity to do any thing with them. I hope you like the Easter holidays I've passed!

Does God exist?

The religion always has been a theme of discussion. It does milleniums that there are questions about a powerful figure. His asking has begun with the help of the philosophy. However philosophy sometimes has been a supporter of God's figure (for example with the ideas of philosopher Descartes).

At begining of time, Greeks and Romans believed with a lot of natural powers that were those who created the land, the sea, the air and everything that exist. The christianism introduced the God's figure as the only who was the response to the creation. It belief that was looking at us from the heights and he communicates occasionally in visions to believers.

But everything change when Galileo Galilei discovers that we didn't alone. He discover that there were an enormous site raises ours that look at us, the universe. After being killed burned by the inquisition.

The religion began to lose importance. But it wasn't Galileo's burning, was the massacre that did the Inquisition killing miliones of persons in bonfires only for not believing as those who imposed it.

God represents the kindness, the happiness of his created children. If God represents all this things, ¿how can we belief in a figure, that maybe doesn't exist, who has been the cause of an enourmous number of deaths? I think that an universal power never will kill his children in any circumstances.

Saint Patrick

A few days ago we've spoken in class about Saint Patrick and Jake laugh because he knew what is this saint about. The same day, I see in a basketball match which were playing Boston Celtics versus Atlanta Hawks the t-shirt that were dressing Boston players was of different color of other days. I listened in this match that this eventual change was because of was Saint Patrick's day and it caused me interest and an idea to write about it.

Saint Patrick is the christian patron saint of Ireland with that attribute a lot of falses histories including banishing all the snakes from Ireland. All these false histories are fruit of writting of centuries with the pass of time, as a lengend.

He was born in the end of fourth century in a britain family. Couriously, he was been in prison for a few years because a group of irish raiders atack his region. They bring him to Ireland in captivity, thing that causes his devotion for christianism. He was afraid and he had to believe in something to survive and to thing that he were protected.

A night, in a visionary dream, God appears to him and has told him that it was time to escape. He was to walk two hundred miles to escape but when already he had escaped an angel revealed him an other time saying: "You have to return to the land that you have left behind to teach what you're learnt about God". Patrick, disconcerted, return to Ireland to teach everybody that God protected them and has incorporated some traditional rituals to Christianity.

Designated saint to both appearances that he had. He has transformed the Christian ideal of the epoch for the british people. It was created the day of this saint in seventeen March.

More there of the sky

A few years ago I've listen some friends discussing a lot. I went with them to see what they were discussing about. There were Oriol and some friends we did in summer holidays. They were discussing about a new that said the universe has form and it was immensely. I try to have a definite form in my mind about universe, but this try was uselessly.

I've dreamt wake up often. So a question that everybody could be that they've done is: What there are more there of the sky? I've tried to answer it because is a question that I love and it takes me crazy. The universe could be immensely, but what is it? How can people imagine that a thing never finish? If this thing no finish, how can it has form?


I visit different webs and magazines and I can have a more sure position. Scientists say that the universe is always in expansion but some day will have end, since it was stopping expanding, all the atoms will expand and the components of these will separate. Everything will be desintegrated and life with it. But I can't understand it. A thing being always expanding? How can we create an image about where we live if we can't understand what is it?

I sincerely hope that future generations could discover these mistakes. Because I think an human have to know where is his place in a nothing, in a thing immensely, in a thing incomprehensible to our mind. Because more there of the sky not only there are stars but an infinity of life and of things that we don't know, we can consider ourselves to be ants of an unknown world.
