F.C. Barcelona

F.C. Barcelona, also called "Barça" is my favourite team for forever. This mitical team was founded on 22 October 1899 to Joan Gamper who placed an advert in Los Deportes declaring his wish to form a football club. This team have had the best players in the world: Romario, Ronaldinyo, Ronaldo, Kubala, Cruyff, Maradona, Suarez, Busquets, Ramallets, Stoickov... In 1992 there was the period of Dream Team with Nuñez in the presidency and Johann Cruyff of manager. This magic dream won in 1992 the first Champions League of the team and it not be winned up to 2006 against Arsenal with a Belleti's goal in the final minutes. This year the Barça is winning all he play and I think this team is another Dream Team.

There is often a fierce rivalry between the two strongest teams in a national league, and this is particularly the case in La Liga, where the game between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF is known as El Clàsic. From the start the clubs were seen as representatives of two rival countries in Spain, Catalonia and Castile, as well as of the two cities themselves. The rivalry projects what many regard as the political and cultural tensions felt between Catalans and the Castilians.
The other important derbi is against Real Club Deportivo Espanyol was founded exclusively by Spanish fans of the game, unlike the multinational nature of FC Barcelona's original board. The club's historical ground was in the well-off district of Sarrià. Traditionally, especially during the Franco regime, Espanyol were seen by the majority of Barcelona's citizens as a club who cultivated a kind of compliance to the central authority unlike FC Barcelona. Despite this background the derbi has always been much more relevant to Espanyol supporters than Barcelona ones due to the difference in objectives.
